This week, for the first time in my life I went camping! Even weeks prior I was really excited and was anticipating the wonderful memories I was going to make. When we got there, I caught up with friends I hadn’t seen in months and explored the camping grounds, before finally setting up the tent. When going there I had thought we would be in the wilderness or something similar to it, but upon our arrival I saw that we were located near a beach and quite a few houses as well. Initially I was disappointed because it didn’t feel like a real camping trip since we were still in “civilisation” but quickly came to enjoy the area. I had a lot of fun, roasting marshmallows, cooking noodles outdoors, playing numerous card games with everyone…

But very soon I came to an understanding about how lucky I was. The freezing cold, made me realise how grateful I was to have a home and a warm bed, so that is an important lesson I learnt whilst being there.
